The best thing about tacos is that there are so many variations of what a taco can look like… you have: corn, flour, or hard shell tortillas; lettuce, tomato, sour cream, salsa, cheese; and meat is an entire category in and of itself. Are you gonna go with Kanye asada, chicken, or pork? These are the troubling questions that haunt my Mexican food craving stomach. And thank god Pancho Pistolas has all the answers.
Pancho Pistolas is the best Mexican food in Bridgeport, conveniently near U.S. Cellular Field. Which, I don’t know about you, but nothing is more American than enjoying baseball and chowing down on food that definitely did not originate in this country. So now, instead of frantically searching for restaurants in Bridgeport you can go to a cozy, and authentic place without getting lost on the southside. Maybe you’ll even have time to check out the featured houses in Showtime’s hit show Shameless. #TeamLip
Not only are there tacos a create-your-own style, but you get to choose what you want down to the smallest detail. And by smallest detail, I mean if you want cilantro or not; which is apparently a huge deal to some people. They also are stocked with other classics such as Tortas, Enchiladas, Fajitas, and Burritos.
But that’s not all, they have an entire seafood section on their menu which includes Tilapia Tacos as well as, Camarones Rancheros! Which is, in my opinion, the only way to ever eat shrimp from now on due to the mouth watering rancheros sauce.
Their breakfast menu has everything you would expect it to: Steak and Eggs, Chilaquiles, and Huevos con Chorizo, PLUS two types of breakfast burritos. The Steak and Eggs Burrito has just that and is also filled with beans, lettuce, tomato, and cheese. Or you could get the Chorizo and Egg Burrito which substitutes the steak in the Steak and Eggs Burrito with Mexican sausage. I’m sensing a trend that if we add eggs to something then it becomes a breakfast food…. and I am totally okay with that.
Now onto what really matters, the drinks. Not only does Pancho Pistolas have Margaritas, but they also have Sangria. Both of which come in three different sizes: regular, jumbo, or pitcher. Go big or go home, amirite?
And while the adults are drinking their happy juice, the children are welcome to Pancho Pistolas too. The restaurant is family owned and so they welcome that same atmosphere into their restaurant. One Yelp! review states that, “Love this place. The food is good, the margaritas are awesome. Great place to bring kids, too!” (http://panchopistolas.com).
Not only is the food good, and the service friendly, but the venue is amazing as well. It somehow accomplishes being authentic and homey at the same time. But if you don’t have time to dine in just look up Mexican food delivery near me, and Pancho Pistolas does that too. Their delivery menu only differs a little from the dine-in one, so you won’t miss out on any of the experience if you go that route. Or maybe you want to impress your friends with a private dining experience in the upstairs, sunlit section of the restaurant, they can do that too.
At this point, I am becoming less and less surprised about the things Pancho Pistolas can do. So grab your Sox hat (I know you have one… bandwagoner) and head on down to Pancho Pistolas for a dining experience that you have complete control over. Except for the sangria, you don’t have much control over your portions in that area. Maybe you’ll even learn the words to La Cucaracha during your visit.
