Monsoon Chocolate is an award-winning chocolate maker and confectioner based in Tucson, Arizona. Drawing inspiration from local ingredients, they transform transparently-sourced cacao from all over the world into craft chocolate bars. This one is inspird by the traditional corn + masa-based beverage Atole of Mesoamerican origin, where toasted corn or masa is blended with water or milk, piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar), vanilla, and optional spices, fruits, or chocolate, this bar has refined blue corn into a traditional white chocolate that retains just enough texture to enhance the perception of the delicate and floral qualities of the heirloom corn.

Kokoa Kamili is a central fermentary that works with approximately 1,500 small shareholder farms in Tanzania, most of whom range in size from just 0.5–2 acres. In an area that historically received some of the lowest prices for cocoa in the country, Kokoa Kamili is now paying a premium well above market rate to the farmers for wet cacao, and controlling the post-harvest processing themselves. This results in higher compensation and a reduced workload for the farmers, and ultimately produces a more consistent, high quality product.

We are buying beans directly from - Aleco Chigounos - a dear friend who’s company, Red Fox Coffee Merchants - “is devoted to building equitable and resilient supply chains that give coffee farmers a voice in the marketplace.” Sqirl’s goal is to work with Aleco to directly purchase small lots of coffee from farmers who are invested in their land and from specific plots on their farms that provide a unique take on terroir. With this viewpoint, we are able, mostly, to purchase the entire lot of beans from the location — making the coffee exclusive to Sqirl.
Orchard-sweet, honey-like, royal. About the Fruit Blenheim’s hail from Europe about 200 years ago, flourishing in the garden at Blenheim Palace in England (birthplace of Winston Churchill!); they became U.S. imports in the 1880’s, arriving in California and spiking in production during WWI until a halting of imported dried fruit from Europe mobilized Sacramento and Santa Clara valleys to begin growing hefty amounts of them. Today, Blenheim production is quickly decreasing by the thousands do to the uprooting of trees to make room for commercial development; additionally, due to their minuscule shelf life, major chain grocery stores more than often opt for the more shelf-stable varietals of apricots. Origins Once Blenheim’s are off the tree, they start to disintegrate! So we gently gather these beautiful rosy-golden babes from either Mike Cirone at Canyon Ranch or Flora Bella (depending on the time of year) and can as much as well can before they return to the grand Mother Earth! Ingredients *Dry-farmed Blenheim apricot, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice *certified organic
Rich, very berry, balancing. Origins What else can we say? This is the crowd favorite of jams. We get our strawberries delivered to our door from the wonderful Guitierrez Farm, while our rhubarb is harvested by Elva Galiano from Trevino Farms. Ingredients *Chandler strawberries, *rhubarb, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice *certified organic
About the Fruit Moro blood oranges are the earliest ripening of the blood orange varietals and have beautiful dark orange-red rinds with deep purple fruit and minimal seeds. They are thought to have originated at the beginning of the 19th century in the citrus-growing area around Lentini (in Sicily). Origins Just like the Blood Orange & Vanilla Bean Marmalade, this marmalade also takes three days to make—cutting the fruit, letting it soak, juicing the rinds and turning it into pectin, then marrying the pectin back to the fruit—it’s a process, and a beautiful one at that! This time we marry the Moros with organic hibiscus, which creates a perfect balance of brightness and fruit that's truly addictive. Ingredients *Moro blood oranges, *hibiscus, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice
Rick's Strawberries married with hand peeled fresh tamarind for a tart Strawberry Jam made exclusively for our restaurant in Santa Monica, ONDA! But now you can find it for a limited time at Sqirl. XO
This is the first jam that Sqirl ever made! What’s more? It takes three days to make—cutting the fruit, letting it soak, juicing the rinds and turning it into pectin, then marrying the pectin back to the fruit—it’s a process, and a beautiful one at that! Then, of course, the addition of full pods of organic vanilla bean—it’s reminiscent of a Creamsicle…in marmalade form. Our Moro blood oranges come from Rancho Del Sol.
Sweet, bright, creamy. Origins We all know everyone loves the combination of strawberry and rhubarb (which is actually a southern-originating combination—something that Jessica saw a lot of in when she lived in Atlanta), but in California when Trevino Farms showed up at the market with bright, tender stalks of rhubarb just as the ripest most plump blueberries from Pudwill are coming in, we thought—why not marry these two seasonal beauties and see what happens? The result: a textured jam full of just the right amount of sweet and acid notes. It’s surprisingly…wonderful. Ingredients *Rhubarb, *blueberries, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice *certified organic
Sqirl Jam in collaboration with Brain Dead - Exclusive to Braindead this is a limited run of Rick's strawberries, Kong's Rhubarb, JJ's kumquats, organic sugar, lime juice, and lime zest. The taste of Fruit Punch aka a vacation without being on one...250 jars made.
“Tart with a smooth rhubarb finish that dances on your palette.” - Alex Fonseca, Sqirl Employee Origins This jam is one of our newest inventions—made my accident, really! We wanted to make Strawberry Rhubarb jam, but our strawberry farmer had just run out of strawberries. We saw that Pudwill Farms had a large quantity of raspberries and we thought, Why not give raspberry rhubarb a try? It turns out rhubarb is just wonderful with everything. Our rhubarb is harvested from Trevino Farms. Ingredients *Raspberries, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice, *rhubarb *certified organic
Sweet flesh, affectionate, chirpy. About the Fruit Rich Lady peaches are—believe it or not—rich with color (yellow flesh and dark red skin) and have a deep, sweet peach flavor, while June Lady peaches are brighter with marked acid. Origins We marry these two complimentary varietals, which we get from our friends at Andy’s Orchards, to achieve the perfect peach jam that’s both sweet and bright. Ingredients *June & Rich Lady peaches, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice *certified organic
GG1'S MAY HAVE A SILLY NAME BECAUSE... WELL, THEY DON'T REALLY HAVE A NAME! YOU WON'T FIND THESE MEGA CHERRIES ANYWHERE ELSE BECAUSE THEY ARE FROM A CHERRY BREEDING FARM. THEY COME FROM ROW G, LANE G, TREE 1. IT'S BREEDING DESIGNATION WAS 441B18, BUT GG1 SOUNDS SO MUCH BETTER. THE GG1 WAS ORIGINALLY BROUGHT TO MURRAY FAMILY FARMS TO SERVE AS A "PROLIFIC POLLINATOR" MEANING TREES POLLINATED BY THE GG1 HAVE A SUPERCHARGED PRODUCTION. IT WAS A SURPRISE WHEN THE CHERRIES HAPPENED TO BE ONE OF THE MOST POPULAR CHERRIES THEY GROW!
Contains Two of the best jam jars of the season chosen by Sqirl. <3
Juicy, luscious, summery. About the Fruit Rose Diamonds are early maturing, deliciously sweet yellow-fleshed nectarines that originated in Bradford, CA in the early 90’s. Origins We get our small batch Rose Diamonds from Andy’s Orchards, one of the most incredible certified organic stone fruit farms in all of America. The jam that culminates from them is gorgeous, luscious—a perfect reminder of just how wonderful and fleeting summer can be. Ingredients *Rose Diamond nectarines, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice *certified organic
Rich berry, punchy, candied. Origins We get our raspberries from Pudwill Farms, the only farmer we know who harvests large amounts of berries and who’s always at the Santa Monica Farmers Market, rain or shine! Somehow the marriage of cardamom and raspberries makes a yin & yang relationship—and so we preserve the two as a time stamp of the season. Ingredients *Raspberries, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice, *freshly ground green cardamom *certified organic
Aromatic, dulcet, bright. About the Fruit Seascape strawberries are big and juicy and their plants bear fruit over a long season, which makes them perfect for our most popular jam! Rose Geranium, which finds itself most often distilled for use in the perfume industry, is instead steeped in the seascape strawberries for a day, pulling beautiful rose scents and notes into the preserve. Origins Since we order so much, the lovely ladies at Guitierrez Farms hand deliver our strawberries weekly (during the season), while the rose geranium comes from Windrose Farms or Jessica’s backyard. Ingredients *Seascape strawberries, *can sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice, *rose geranium *certified organic
Kong Thao planted Rhubarb this year and it came to fruition right at the time of the pandemic. Iit's grown naturally, not forced, and retains more of a green color than a pinkish hue. With restaurants closed and the usual outlet for purchasing rhubarb gone, we made a commitment to buy all of Kong's 2020 Rhubarb crop. Then, Sana called - she had a 1.5# of Baraka Cardamom and she wanted to see if we could find a way to honor it in jam form. I made a quick call to Samin Nosrat to riff on some Jam ideas. This was what came out of our mouths first. The combination of rhubarb and cardamom has always been a d delicious go to in pies and cakes and somehow has never been made as a jam at Sqirl. The hibiscus concentrate is more for color and to add a silky texture to the jam. Only 100 available.
Bonny Royals are larger, firmer, and juicier than Blenheim; it may be heresy, but many people say the flavor is more intense. This is the first year we are canning Bonny Royals - all from Andy's Orchards and it is a gorgeous, high intensity apricot jam. 50 cases available.
Crisp & sweet, tart, old-fashioned. About the Fruit Gravenstein apples were first planted in Sonoma County in 1911 by Russian trappers. Extremely delicate and perishable and difficult to harvest, Gravensteins face extinction due to a mixture of these conditions with a startling amount of their orchards’ land being converted to vineyards or rural estates. According to Slow Food USA, there are only six commercial growers remaining in Sonoma County and only 15,000 tons of Gravenstein apples a year. Origins We get our Gravensteins from Walker’s Apples, a family farm in Sebastopol that’s over a hundred years old! Jessica used to drive up in her Prius, fill her car up, and drive back down—now, we fly there, rent a jeep and drive back down. Lee Walker’s an ancient creature who lovingly hands us his apples in a quick farmer-to-city gal transaction. We believe true love’s what keeps their farm going and going... Ingredients *Gravenstein apples, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice *Certified organic
Nectar-sweet, plummy, florid. About the Fruit The Mirabelle varietal is a specialty of the French region of Lorraine, which has an ideal climate and soil composition for the cultivation of this fruit; it known as the perfect jamming plum, as it is sweet and tiny, and often baked into pies and cakes. Origins Andy of Andy’s Orchards, who also grows Reine Claudes, grows a minuscule number of Mirabelles (de Nancy), and they make a gorgeous jam. In France, 70% of commercial production goes to make a rich plum jam, but here in the states it's impossible to find….except right here! Ingredients *Mirabelle plum, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice *certified organic
Juicy, deep fig flavor, dark plum notes. About the Fruit Considered one of the highest quality figs, mission figs were first planted in San Diego by Franciscan missionaries in 1768, and have since become the main commercial variety of figs in California. Black Missions have darker skin tones with strawberry-colored interiors. Origins Our Black Missions are from Murray’s Family Farm and are steeped (aka "plumped") for 24 hours in La Clarine's biodynamic red wine prior to making their way into the copper jam pot. Ingredients *Black Mission fig, *cane sugar, * lemon juice, *red wine *certified organic
Viscous, jolly rancher, holy. About the Fruit This complex hybrid plum has roots in Japan, but was ultimately bred in 1906 by Luther Burbank, a California horticulturist known for developing over 800 varieties of plants! Origins While we used to get our Santa Rosas from Flora Bella (RIP our favorite trees!), and then we procured a little from Andy’s Orchard last year, we were able to get a good amount this year from Ken’s Top Notch who grows a ton of wonderful stone fruit varieties! With hardly any shelf life, we immediately cook them in jam pans with flowering thyme because they’re both vibrant at the same point in time—so why not have a conversation. “Holy stone fruit! This is the jam." - Quote from the old copywriting Ingredients *Santa Rosa plums, *cane sugar, *Sorrento lemon juice, *flowering thyme *certified organic

Methode champenoise, non-dosage, blanc de blancs (Chardonnay) from Vallagarina Valley within the wine region of Trentino, Italy. Marco Zani is a very stylish, very charming family man who makes epic wines in a truly magnificent 10th century castle. This sparkling goes with nearly everything, but I particularly love it with a lunch of salad and pizza! ~Certified Organic~
Sekt Riesling from the wine region of Saar, Germany. The Saar is a favorite region of mine because of its unique potential to showcase Rieslings that are both very powerful and at the same time exhibit real lightness. Electricity coupled with elegance. This is a bottle to drink with delicate fair (oysters!) or as an aperitif. Peter Lauer is doing great things for Riesling in a variety of styles so check out all that he has to offer. (Dry, dry, dry).

Made with a variety of apples from a biodynamic orchard at the base of Mount Hood in Oregon. Nate Ready is a poetic wizard in the wine world and we're lucky that his offerings include this cider as well. This is his third release of Floreal and it continues to shine brightly. Notes from the producer: "Apples are aged for a month after picking, milled and macerated for a week and pressed in a basket press traditionally lined with straw. They are then fermented and aged in old barrels. ...we always use fermenting juice from the next vintage to initiate the secondary fermentation in bottle and we never add anything but apples".
A blend of heirloom apples made in Switzerland. Total stunner. One of the best cider producers out there.
A multi-vintage cider made in the traditional method (maple syrup was used for the secondary fermentation)! A dry and delicious apple sparkler from Vermont.
Altesse from the Marestel vineyard within the wine region of Savioe, France. Dupasquier is a fifth generation Domaine that makes killer Altesse wines. This particular vineyard is high in elevation and offers a ripe, honeyed, floral, and nutty expression of the grape with beautiful age-ability. This is not a wine for the faint of heart - it demands some time to reflect and admire (and perhaps some of your favorite grilled fish).
