Here is a sangiovese from Montepulciano in Tuscany. As the name suggests, this wine is a little bit more refined and subtle than its cousin Chianti, showing more developed and complex fruit qualities, and stronger herbal and earthy overtones. You will be rewarded when decanting this wine, or letting it breathe plenty in the glass. I would enjoy it with our Lasagna alla Primavera or Pizza Giardinera for a lighter meal that will compliment this complex yet powerful red wine.

Nero d'Avola is a grape that has a lot to offer. Grapes grown anywhere will make pleasant wine, but the best examples come from vineyards like those Buceci utilizes - vineyards that are close to the sea and at higher altitudes. As a result, this wine shows balance, complexity, and rustic earthiness that other neros do not quite develop. Try this with any pizza and you will not be disappointed, or with our farro salad and insalata di polpo for a lighter, balanced meal that offers plenty of rich flavors to compliment this unique red!
Aglianico is a bit of a hidden gem grown in southern Italy, generally with earthier wines coming from Basilicata and more delicate wines coming from Campania (like this one!) The grape resembles something like zinfandel, primitivo or syrah with dark red and blue fruit tones, herbal notes, and a fortified character reminiscent of spiced fruitcake. This one is not too big and bold to enjoy without food, but certainly tastes great with anything rich and a little spicy. Try it out with our new Southern Italian pizza!
