Pale yellow gold in color, Edgefield Hard Cider has aromas of fresh apple, apple skin, and pie spices. Lively on the tongue, fresh apple flavor dominates with hints of pear and honey. Crisp and refreshing, the hint of sweetness is balanced out by tart acidity.
As a beer named after the most recognizable of Jimi Hendrix tunes, it's interesting to note that the song’s colorful imagery came to Jimi in a dream. In a 1969 interview, he said “I dream a lot and I put a lot of my dreams down as songs." Sixteen years later, McMenamins dared to dream and became the first brewery in the U.S. to legally use fruit in the creation of ales. We still craft our flagship Fruit Ales exactly as we first did. We aim to make them light, crisp and refreshingly fruity. Purple Haze, a favorite and often requested recipe for over twenty years now, is brewed using locally malted 2-Row and 42 pounds of Oregon boysenberries in every batch.
Deep burgundy in color, the aromas of fresh blackberries burst from the glass. The slightly tannic and tart blackberry component is balanced out by the residual sugar, while the fermented apple rounds out the mid-palate and finish in this tart and sweet cider.
This hazy, orange ale is a hoppy concoction brewed and dry-hopped with Amarillo, Citra, Mosaic, and Chinook Hops and over 650 pounds of mango puree from Oregon Fruit Products. A powerful medley of bold tropical fruit scents and flavors elevate this Double IPA to a higher plane.
