Renardo “Nayo” Ovalle Vides follows in his grandfather Jorge’s footsteps, building on his family’s passion for coffee that started back in the late 1950’s. Jorge planted his first farm in 1958 in La Libertad, Huehuetenango. Today, Nayo and his wife Jaqueline, a Q grader, work with a team of coffee professionals to run a total of six farms and manage a state-of-the-art lab in Guatemala City.

Kilenso Mokonissa is one of the smallest villages in the Borena Hagermariam District of Sidama. In the past, the coffees coming from Kilenso would have been blended into larger lots and sold under the area’s catch-all name, “Ardi.” Since Coava began separating it out, Kilenso has become a customer favorite due to the unique flavor profile.
